The Courchevel area is full of routes for all levels of expertise, from the lower areas of the resort, to exploring the hamlets, enjoying an invigorating walk in the forest, to scaling the highest rocky peaks. Walks in the hamlets around Courchevel Le Praz, where the paths link each village, or the walk along la Rosière mountain river are the perfect hikes for beginners and families with children. Brèche de Portetta, Petit Mont Blanc, Crête du Mont Charvet and Rocher de la Loze are ideal hikes for more experienced walkers. Find all the walks described here.

Plan du Vah - Sentier des Tufs

This path takes you to Kamelot Camp amongst the fir trees, where you can refuel at the little Canadian-style cabin and enjoy fun, original activities at the lake.

Boucle de Mateigena

This shortish and rather steep path winds through the forest, taking you to a pretty clearing and some ponds.

Pralin-Mugnier

Explore the pastures where AOP Beaufort cheese is produced, plus amazing views of La Dent du Villard. Picnic tables are available at the farms in Pralin-Mugnier.

Dent du Villard - Sentier des 1000 marches - Col de la Chal

Each step bears the name of one of the people who helped to rebuild the path, so why not add yours? Please contact Courchevel town council if you are interested.

Petit Mont Blanc

Enjoy 360° panoramic views from the Vanoise glaciers to Mont Blanc. The peak takes its name from its rounded shape, similar to that of its big brother, and the gypsum that looks like snow.

Sentier découverte du Grand Bois

Take the gondola lift up to the top and read up about the area on the signs along the way: snow, avalanches, ants, spruce trees, Alpine meadows, countryside, fauna, flora and the built environment.

Chemin du Paradis

This pretty walk passes through Courchevel’s administrative centre, as well as past the Olympic ski jumps and Le Praz lake.

Lacs Merlet

Explore two jewels of the Vanoise national Park – the upper lake is the deeper of the two (28m).

Lacs Merlet - Col de Chanrouge

Extend your walk for a view out over a third lake, the Lac du Pêtre.
From the mountain pass, enjoy unrivalled views of the Courchevel valley, the La Plagne ski area and the Mont Blanc mountain range.

Abri de Bec de l'Aigle

There is a Mediterranean forest feel to this route, which takes you to a stone shelter.
Do not attempt in hot weather or when heavy rain is forecast. Fires are strictly prohibited.

Chemin de Villarnard

This trail leads to the Villarnard hamlet, a classic example of local heritage. Shuttle bus return.

Boucle du rocher de la Loze

The Rocher de la Loze is an amazing viewpoint, so take the time to admire the Vanoise glaciers and Mont Blanc.

Chemin des Ecureuils - Le Bouc Blanc

This lovely flat forest path is definitely the easiest to take from the resort centre. Perfect for jogging.

Chemin des Travers (Buisson, Fontanil, Cuerdy)

Explore the hamlets of Saint-Bon, where time seems to stand still. Ask for a copy of the heritage guide at any tourist office : it tells you all about them.
Shuttlebus available for return journey.

Descente Courchevel Le Praz

Head across the meadows to the traditional village of Courchevel Le Praz and the lake, enjoying views of the hamlets on the facing mountainside.

Le lac de la Rosière

In a natural setting at the foot of the Dent du Villard, with the shimmering
lake, this enchanting location is perfect for a quiet moment of contemplation.

Promenade confort Torrent et lac de la Rosière

A walk amongst nature at the foot of the Dent du Villard with a footbridge across the lake – add it to your holiday list. It also includes the botanical trail.

Easy-going walk: mountain stream and lake at La Rosière

Natural setting at the foot of the Vallée des Avals at Courchevel Moriond, this exceptional site has been set up to welcome all-comers for a picnic or an easy walk.

Combe de la Saulire

From the top of Combe de la Saulire, facing Mont Blanc, view down onto the resort of Courchevel: golf course, Lac du Biollay, altiport. At the bottom of the cable car, fallow the footpath (n°17) to the resort.

Crêtes du Mont Charvet

This high-level walk takes you past sinkholes and offers amazing panoramic views.
When you get to Le Biol, you’ll see a stone - the remains of the old mountain hut that was carried away by an avalanche in 1999.

Rocher de Villeneuve

This quiet little peak has dazzling panoramic views of the Vanoise glaciers.
We recommend that you go back down via Le Col de la Dent.

Itinéraire VAE - Col de la loze depuis Courchevel

Opt for an electric bike for an effortless sightseeing tour through the Tarentaise Vanoise valleys. Along quiet, easygoing, waymarked trails, the most beautiful scenery and delights of our region will open up before you.

Circuit de la Nouvaz

This path leads to the pretty hamlet of La Nouvaz, where it passes underneath a stone arch between 2 houses then climbs back up and loops through the forest. May be combined with Le Chemin des Chevreuils path.

Le Grenier, Le Fay, Les Moulins

This circular hike can be extended to include three other hamlets or even Lac de Bozel, for the more daring among you.

Chemin des chevreuils

Cut out of the rock face, this footpath links the villages of Le Praz and La Tania and gives you pretty views of villages on the facing mountainside.

Tour de la Dent

Passing through a protected wilderness area, this path is full of curious geological features related to gypsum. Few people walk this route. Tell someone exactly where you’re going, start out early and do not attempt in stormy weather.

Sentier botanique et Cascade des Poux

Being close to water is very relaxing as you walk through the light-filled forest. Look out for a wide range of rare and protected species along the way.
Avoid in heavy rain.

Sentier botanique et Cascade des Poux Forêt du Laition

La mare aux tritons: faites une halte et prenez le temps d'observez cet amphibien emblématique des milieux humides. Soyez discrets pour qu'il sorte de sa cachette. Attention: le triton alpestre est une espèce vulnérable et protégée en France !

Col de Mey

For the more experienced, a via cordata (rocky path with metal cables) allows you to continue to the Col de Mey mountain pass. Not a good idea if you suffer from vertigo!

La Saulire - Lac des Creux

After stopping at the highest point in Courchevel and waving to Mont Blanc, you head back down to the centre of the resort.

Lacs Merlet Refuge du Grand Plan

This circular walk takes you to the Grand Plan mountain hut, which was originally a cheese dairy.

Dent du Villard

With its remarkable geological features, Courchevel’s iconic peak has an amazing landscape and wonderful panoramic views. Be careful when approaching the big ravines.

Courchevel Le Praz - Montcharvet - La Jairaz

This panoramic circuit enjoys unobstructed views of the Grand Bec and villages on the opposite mountainside.
The route might be a little long for anyone who isn’t used to walking.

Chemin du moulin de Villaflou

This orchard trail links the hamlets of Villaflou, which has an authentic watermill, and Le Freney.

Sentier des Verdons

This route takes you up in a gondola lift, giving you great views of the Grande Casse (highest peak in the Savoie region: 3,855m). Look out for marmots on the ledge 100 metres from the gondola lift station. Watch out for cyclists and golfers.

Col de la Loze par Dos des Branches

A lovely but strenuous walk up to the Col de la Loze mountain pass, where you can enjoy 360° panoramic views of the peaks from the orientation table and the breath-taking sight of Mont Blanc.

Sandraz - Bois du Ban

This path takes you to Kamelot Camp amongst the fir trees, where you can refuel at the little Canadian-style cabin and sample fun, original activities at the lake.

Brèche de Portetta

See the Savoie region’s very own little Dolomites: explore the mineral-rich environment between the tall needles of rock.
Watch out for snow fields at the start of the season.
Don’t leave your car for too long at the foot of the rock face (danger of rock falls).

Crête des Gravelles

Walk to the top of a small summit – a really lovely spot for a picnic (and others) on the shores of the Plan du Vah lake.

Lac Bleu

The path winds up through scree and rhododendrons, opening out onto the Loze plateau.
You can take the gondola lift or the Sentier des Verdons (n°17) back down to the resort.

Circuit des Teppes

A great place to relax and have a picnic with the added bonus of a view of the Grand Bec, the Tarentaise Valley and the resort of Courchevel La Tania from a viewpoint on the way back. You can do a circuit via the 4x4 track.

En descendant vers Courchevel Le Praz...

With great views of the hamlet on the opposite side of the mountain, the
walk takes you to the traditional village of Courchevel Le Praz and around the
beautiful lake.

Arête de la Saulire - Col du Fruit

This route gives you a taste of the high mountainside and the wild natural landscape at the entrance to the Vanoise National park.
Amazing panoramic views over the Courchevel and Méribel valleys.

Le Petit Mont Blanc - Passage de Plassa

The route takes you to a huge cairn (3,5m), and a vast field of scree opens out in front of you afterwards, with the wreckage of a plane that crashed on December 19th 1969.
