Chapelle Notre Dame des Neiges
The chapel was built in 1650 at the request of Saint-Bon's priest : Pierre Pachod. Most of the sanctuaries consecrated to Notre-Dame des Neiges are at altitude (this one is at 1570m) to provide shelter from avalanches.
The saint is supposed to protect the harvest by stopping the snow from falling before the harvest has been collected. The saint also protects chalets, herbs and mountain pastures. The chapel has statues of saint Claude, saint Guérin and saint Roch. Notre Dame des Neiges is very popular in Savoie and the saint's day is on August 5th. Courchevel Moriond residents still celebrate the village fête over the week-end.
