The route "On the Ways of St. James" offers you an immersion in the millennial history of pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela, a journey full of spirituality and discoveries.
Long 12.7 kilometers, this route allows you to take almost 2 kilometers the authentic Way of Saint James starting from Geneva.
Whether you are a passing pilgrim or a simple walker, this walk offers an enriching experience, mixing culture, nature and spirituality, while honoring the heritage of this legendary route
Departure from the belvedere St Romain, go down the park passing in front of the "rampart and the tower of the Presle".
Cross the Place de la Presle and "la Savasse" to reach opposite at the foot of the old tanners' houses "l'escalier Josaphat".
Climb the staircase that leads to "rue Pêcherie". Turn right, pass in front of the "Fontaine Puits du Cheval".
in front of you "la Collégiale Saint-Barnard". Turn left on the "Place Maurice Faure", around the Collégiale, to join "l'Hôtel de Clérieu" and the street "des Trois Carreaux".
Turn left into the street "Merlin". Cross the street "Mathieu de la Drôme" and take opposite the street "Saraillerie", pass in front of the "Covered Fountain".
Continue to go up the "Côte Jacquemart" and admire the tower that stands in front of you.
Go around the tower on the left then return to the right. Advance a few meters and turn left 'la Côte Sainte-Ursule' and again left 'rue du 75ème RI'.
At the end, turn right on "Place Jean Jaurès", proceed to the traffic lights, turn left and then right to pass in front of the church "Notre Dame de Lourdes".
At the corner of the café, turn left into "rue Solférino", then left again into "rue Palestro" before turning right into "Avenue Victor Hugo".
At the big crossroads, cross to take the "upper passage" (above the railway).
At the roundabout below, turn left into the street "du 4 Septembre" then right into the street "André Chénier". Go up the street passing in front of the Guillermoz stadium then at the next roundabout take opposite "Avenue Raoul Follereau".
At the roundabout, always opposite until joining the path parallel to the ring road.
Turn left and proceed to the large roundabout. There, cross "Avenue Jean Moulin" to continue on the path parallel to the ring road and advance to the large next roundabout.
Turn left on "Avenue de ST Donat" then cross to take the "Chemin du Moulin". After having passed "la Savasse", turn right on the "Chemin du Moulin" and at the intersection with "le Chemin de la rocade" take a left again on "le Chemin du Moulin".
Advance until meeting 'the Path of Chaleyre'.
Turn right and move forward. Pass in front of "La Ferme de Chaleyre" then at the crossroads, turn left and continue straight on "Route des Balmes".
At the height of the "Restaurant des Balmes", take on the left "chemin des écoliers" then on the left "Chemin de Maison Blanche" and continue on the "Rue Louis le Cardonnel".
At the intersection with the "Chemin de Chatiou", turn right and follow the path on the totality.
At the crossroads with the D574, turn left for a few meters then after passing "la Savasse", turn right "Rue de Dunkerque".
Go up until the end then take a right on "rue Simone Abbat".
Cross and turn right, follow the path until you come across the 'rue des Récollets', turn right and go to the end then turn left onto 'Avenue Berthelot'.
Advance until you find on your right 'the Path of the Bastions'.
Follow the path that brings you back to your starting point by taking you through the "Parc François Mitterrand".
