Châtillon-sur-Cluses
Pets allowed: Non
A rural village of 1169 inhabitants, straddling two valleys, Châtillon sur Cluses owes its name, like all the "Châtillons" in France, to the castle that was the preferred residence of the Sires du Faucigny.
A remarkable site, currently the subject of a vast renovation and enhancement project.
North of Châtillon sur Cluses lies the natural gateway to the Vallée du Giffre, its resorts and ski area. Châtillon sur Cluses, located on the pass at 732 m altitude, was not only the birthplace of skier Maxime Pezet, but also the preferred residence of the Sires du Faucigny.
Today, only the base of the two towers, the church and a section of wall of the majestic 10th-century castle remain, but the site is the subject of a vast renovation project and well-deserved enhancement!
