Start as for the Rhone Loop but continue over the River Usse to the unspoilt Rhone Valley at Fort l'Ecluse.
This relatively long, hilly route takes you all the way to the Jura mountains and the Swiss border, with the spectacular Ecluse defile, guarded by fortifications with a tormented history. Along the way, you'll have the chance to visit the Château de Clermont. But don't forget to keep your feet under you for the second half of the route and the final panorama over Lake Annecy!
