Epierre

Language(s) spoken: French

Its feudal castle, a historic site.

Epierre is a commune in the lower Maurienne, stretching along the right bank of the Arc to the summit of the Grand Pic de la Lauzière.

The village grew up in the shelter of a glacial lock, on a small plain reclaimed from the bed of the Arc river.

Zoom

Château d'Epierre: This castle defended the Arc lock. Now in ruins, its high, powerful walls are well worth a visit. A few vines still grow around the castle site.
