Exhibition : Our mountains' gold
Event date
From 05/12/2025 to 03/01/2026. During the media library opening hours.
Born in the Hauts-Plateaux du Vercors, Léa Layeux, alias Oxaléa, learned about life in the forest: wildlife, tree species, plants, mushrooms.
After training in laboratory technical sciences, she became fascinated by plant biology. She began creating ephemeral compositions with plants, inspired by the opportunity to live in the small, sheltered village of La Giettaz in Aravis, on the edge of the Val d'Arly.
The creation of a ‘herbarium workshop’ fulfilled her desire to share her knowledge by helping individuals create herbariums after mountain hikes.
Deeply convinced that it is urgent to transform fear of the unknown through a better understanding of nature in order to preserve it, Oxaléa works to raise awareness and educate through discovery.
Her works are above all the result of wonder, an encounter along the way that captures her senses and reveals the beauty of the microscopic. Inspired by the arrangement of foliage, grasses and bark, Oxaléa composes pictures from the plants she collects with respect. The subject matter is playful, sometimes indirect and subtle, but deals with certainty with our relationship with nature.
Her message is determined and luminous: ‘It is time to observe what is at our feet before looking up at the sky.’
