A playful exploration of Savoie's largest iron mine, from the work of the miners to the basics of metallurgy.

An immersive day in the world of mining, combining theory and practice to explore the mining world of yesteryear.

Equipped with helmets, your students explore the gallery, discovering the work of life-size miners. Following clues, they explore the evolution of mineral extraction and transportation techniques from the Middle Ages to the industrial era, moving from rock and metal to essential everyday objects. In the metallurgical park, a treasure hunt reveals the secrets "from mineral to tool", allowing children to observe the stages and techniques of iron transformation for themselves.

This enriching experience awaits them on a guided tour of the St Louis Gallery, the Metallurgical Park and the Iron Museum, offering an in-depth understanding of metal and its everyday uses.

The day consists of 4 workshops (2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon)

- the Iron Museum,

- Galerie St Louis,

- the Metallurgical Park

Plus a 4th workshop to choose from among the following:

- the School Museum

- orienteering course

- discovery of small animals

- pottery animation - clay modeling

In 45-minute sequences, youngsters immerse themselves in the world of mining, exploring the various aspects of the trades of farmer-miner, lumberjack-coal-maker and metallurgist. From rock sorting to the use of period tools, from lighting to coal-making, from transformation to the forge, our mediators lead these modules in an interactive way, allowing children to actively participate in the visit.

Complementary "Mountain village tour": €8/child, duration 1h30

- Landscape walk, Savoy history, farming, architecture, hydroelectricity
