With over 1,000 years of history, La Roche-sur-Foron is the second largest historic city in Haute-Savoie, and has evolved over the centuries.
This guided tour takes visitors on a journey back in time, through the many preserved historical traces, from 13th-century alleyways and vestiges, to magnificent noble houses from the 15th to 17th centuries and the grain measures dating from 1558. From the shopping streets to the picturesque Plain-Château district, from the Saix and Echelle castles to the keep that dominated the ancient fortress of the Counts of Geneva, from the centuries-old traditions of fairs and markets to the permanent electrification of the streets for the 1st time in France in 1885: the personality of this medieval and connected town will be (almost) fully revealed!
