Halles Sainte-Claire

Opening period

Rates

Free entry.

Elegant hall built in 1874 by the departmental architect Riondel, and designed on the principle of the Baltard halls, it occupies the site of the former convent of the Poor Clares of Grenoble, founded in the 15th century.

The brick walls are not load-bearing, and the roof rests essentially on cast iron pillars.

Sober but nevertheless elegant, the facade presents interesting decorative motifs such as mascarons and corner acroteria in the form of lions' heads.

A beautiful stylized dolphin adorns a fountain at the foot of the hall.
