A magnificent trail, rich in history, passing close to ancient silver-bearing lead mines that were exploited until the twentieth century.
Rich in history, this magnificent trail passes close by ancient silver-bearing lead mines that were exploited up until the 20th century. From Montchavin you take the GR5 for about 600m down to Montorlin where you join the “mine path” through the forest. The trail rises and becomes steeper, sometimes emerging into the open air. Many twists and turns finally lead to a fabulous view across the whole of the Ponthurin valley. You return to Montchavin over level ground, which is a nice relaxing way to end the trip.
