Departing from the center of Chambéry, the ascent of the pass starts just outside St Alban Leysse and runs steadily through the villages of St Jean d'Arvey and Les Déserts, where the view of the Margériaz accompanies you all the way to the summit.
Avec un départ possible du centre de Chambéry, la montée du col de Plainpalais est une des classiques de la région. Régulière et ponctuée par le passage dans plusieurs villages, elle vous permet d'accéder au cœur du massif des bauges. Elle est aussi la porte d'entrée vers de nombreux itinéraires en boucles etu les cols des Prés ou du Revard. Cette ascension fera également partie de l'étape du tour féminin 2025.
