Mount Lachat from Cernix

DEPARTURE: parking Cernix.

ROUTE: from the car park, take the municipal road along the snow front to join the MOULIN, and take the right track to BALLEVARD. Continue the path in the direction of ENTRE DEUX BOIS, RENARDS then the track to SOUS LE LACHAT, AYES and MONT LACHAT. To go down again, return briefly by the AYES and UNDER THE LACHAT, then turn left to join the BOEU DU COHEN. Continue on the track towards the CARREFOUR DU BOEU DE COHEN, LE SAUT DU CHAMOIS and GRANZEY. Turn left towards GRANZEY, SOUS LA VOUILLON, LES EMBAILLES and join CERNIX.

POINTS OF INTEREST:

- Crossing pastures with herds of beautiful Abondances cows or Tarines whose production of milk is used for the manufacture of Reblochon and to a lesser extent Beaufort.

- Beside the alpine farms a small building, the "fredier", built on a stream, allowed to keep cool the milking evening until the collection by the cooperative.

- The Arpelières trail, created in a mountain wetland, a fragile natural area. Discover the largest sphagnum peat bog in the Alps and its unique ecosystem. Since 2013 the site benefits from the classification in Regional Nature Reserve.
