Discover the original past of Trévoux, capital of the Principality of Dombes, through unusual collections enhanced by scent or touch.

Surprise guaranteed!

The Hôtel Pierre et Anne de Bourbon was listed on the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques in 1991 and has been owned by the town of Trévoux since 1989. Today, thanks to a successful renovation, this building, which bears witness to the original history of Trévoux, is home to the "Trévoux et ses Trésors" museum and the Tourist Office.

A showcase for treasures

The tour, based on an attractive scenography, gives visitors the keys to understanding the singularity of Trévoux's history. A city that went from being a river tollbooth and a simple castellanic center to becoming the capital of the Principality of Dombes, and whose influence has been measured on a European scale.

The presentation of the collections allows visitors to discover the different treasures made in Trévoux, as well as the techniques involved in the manufacture of this heritage.

The tour is guided by characters evoking these skills.

A unique heritage and its associated techniques:

- Coinage, metal refining, goldsmithing, hallmarking, diamond dies...

- Manuscripts and printed works, including "landmark works" such as the Mémoires de Trévoux and the Dictionnaire de Trévoux.

- A spinning wheel, a magnificent 19th-century spinning machine, completes these collections. Members of the PRIVALS heritage preservation association were also honored when they won 1st prize in the "Savoir-Faire" category of the Patrimoine Aurhalpin 2022 competition for its restoration.

The museum is accessible to people with reduced mobility and the visually impaired.

If you are disabled, alone or in a group, please contact us in advance of your visit. Our teams will be delighted to help you organize your visit.
