Part of the Maginot Line in the Alps, Fort Saint-Gobain is a 1939-45 wartime structure in a unique state of preservation. The temperature inside the fort is around 12°C, so warm clothing is a must.

After crossing the drawbridge, visitors discover the barracks and technical rooms that enabled a crew of 150 soldiers to live self-sufficiently for three months in case of need.

Self-guided tours follow a signposted route, with explanatory panels in 3 languages (French, Italian and English).
