Do you dream of escaping to the great outdoors? Take a walk through the heart of the Vanoise National Park and get close to the glaciers. This escape will delight hikers in good physical condition who are already accustomed to roaming the mountains.
Leave your cosy nest at dawn to discover the heart of an unspoilt area. As you approach the Plan du Lac, you change dimension to the Vanoise glaciers. After an encounter with Dame Marmotte, who keeps a watchful eye on you, you cover the kilometers with ease. Pay close attention to the oversized scree slopes that are home to chamois and ibex. The refuge de la Femma marks the entrance to an unsuspected mineral world. Pass the Col de la Rocheure and you'll be on a journey to the "end of the world" at almost 3000m altitude. A final descent to the Fond des Fours hut will go smoothly if the trail is not overrun by the snow that persists until July. Here you are at the border between Haute Maurienne and Tarentaise.
