The via ferrata du Diable combines 7 independent sections for all levels (easy to very difficult). One of the biggest via ferrata in the Alps, with breathtaking scenery in the Arc gorges. Professional supervision recommended.
The 7 via ferrata du diable routes can be completed independently of each other. They can also be linked together. The total loop with 7 routes represents a length of 3,760 m and varies from 6 to 8 hours. It is imperative to follow the direction of the routes.
If the seven sections of Le Diable bear such evocative names, it's perhaps because the quality of their routes merits their inclusion in the bible of ferratists. One thing's for sure: you're in for a day in paradise with the 3,760 meters of this surprisingly beautiful via "en boucle".
The courses are located at the foot of the Aussois and La Norma ski resorts. They unfold between the forts of l'Esseillon and the vertiginous Arc gorges.
A strategic gateway to Italy, the chain of five Esseillon forts has watched over the Mont-Cenis pass since 1832. Facing the Vanoise National Park, between Fort Victor-Emmanuel and the Redoute Marie-Thérèse, a wide cirque opens up, traversed by the via ferrata du Diable.
This is one of the most beautiful and largest via ferrata in the Alps. The scenery in the gorges de l'Arc is grandiose; the atmosphere is wild (especially in the off-season or in winter when there's no one around); you climb among swallows, swifts and tichodromes.
The routes are varied: climbs, descents, crossings, with numerous footbridges of different types and scenery near a waterfall and in the Esseillon forts.
A major tourist attraction in Haute Maurienne Vanoise in summer: a must for children, thrill-seekers and visiting climbers alike!
