The Via Rhona is a project of a bike itinerary to link the Leman Lake (from Geneva) to the Mediterranean sea, following the Rhone river.
The Via Rhona enables to ride along the Rhone banks safely and to discover the local territories differently.
This cycling track go through many towns and villages full of well preserved natural and historical heritage.
Long before the arrival of railroads and major roads, the Rhône was the only route linking the region's largest cities. As a result, along this river that winds its way from the Swiss Alps to the south of France, you'll come across picturesque villages and castles, and be able to take plenty of breaks to admire the panoramas and landscapes. The Via Rhôna project is a cycle path linking Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea. This "self-guided" formula will enable you to discover this itinerary in great detail between Geneva and Lyon. You'll have plenty of time to admire the mountainous landscapes of the Alps and Jura, while enjoying a relatively flat itinerary accessible to all.
