The airport was inaugurated on 15 April 1975, and was known as Satolas airport until 29 June 2000 (anniversary date). Saint Exupéry was born on 29 June 1900, and the airport was given his name on 29 June 2000 to celebrate his centenary year. The architect was Mr. Gillet.
