Trail route 33 blue: Christian Rey Bellet Memorial Vertical

The route starts in Champéry, in front of the cable car, heading up towards Café du Nord. At the top of the alley, turn right and walk through the village down the beautiful Grande-Rue, so typical of the Valais. You're on the route of a well-known Champéry vertical race, the "Mémorial Christian Rey-Bellet". On leaving the village, pass the Hôtel le White and take the Route de Chavalet to the dirt track that climbs Les Revers and leads to the Cantine Sur Cou. A hundred meters or so along the asphalt road after the Cantine, take the track that climbs into the forest on your right. You're at the foot of a path that climbs relentlessly towards the Arête des Esserts. The higher you climb, the more spectacular the view becomes, culminating at the Croix de Culet (1963m) with a breathtaking view of Champéry, the Dents du Midi and the Portes du Soleil ski area. This path, vertiginous in places, is a little airy and not particularly suitable for people prone to vertigo, despite the chains fitted to the most technical passages. Once you've reached the Croix de Culet, all that's left is a short descent to the cable car station, where the trail ends.
