Méribel
Pets allowed: Non
Located in the heart of the 3 Valleys, Meribel is a little paradise, summer and winter.
In the winter, the largest ski area in the world is covered in a blanket of snow, offering a multitude of activities before and after the ski.
In the summer, the freshness of the mountains offers a multitude of possibilités.
During the winter season, it’s easy to hop over
to the other 3 Vallées resorts and ski in sun
all day long from Méribel’s ski area.
Finding your way around the largest fully
connected ski area in the world (600km of
ski runs) is quite easy. Méribel is in the centre,
the Belleville valley (Val Thorens and Les Menuires)
is in the south-west, while Courchevel-
La Tania is in the north-east. Skiers of all levels
can benefit from the best snow conditions
which vary with the season and time of day.
In the morning, lovers of long, challenging
runs will choose Mont Vallon, with its sunny
summit and two red slopes that are groomed
overnight. La Saulire (see below) is
also known for its thrilling runs and benefits
from receiving the first morning rays of
sun. Intermediate and beginner skiers opt
for the eastern side of the area where the
Yeti Park and Little Himalaya themed runs
are found, or head to the Altiport which is in
sun from 10am to 4pm, home to the Family
Cool, Animal Trail and Inuit Trail fun areas.
You can switch from one side of the valley
to the other simply by following the sun
and enjoying a break for lunch on a beautiful
restaurant terrace in the resort or on
the slopes, such as at the new Maya Altitude
with its view of Mont Blanc (see following
pages). The runs on the west-facing Col de
la Loze, La Saulire and Pas du Lac remains
in shade in the morning so their snow retains
its freshness until the early afternoon.
During the summer season, Méribel is a haven of peace and health and the perfect jumping-off point for exploring the mountains. Come
and discover all the different holidays it offers. For a calm and restful stay, make your way through forests
and villages in search of one of the rare and beautiful places only found in the mountains. Or embrace Nature,
here protected by the Vanoise Nature Park, as are the golden eagles, black grouse and ptarmigan. Or come
for an active and sporting holiday: cycle the switchbacks up to the Loze pass, play golf on the Altiport course,
shoulder a backpack carrying crampons and discover the Gebroulaz glacier during the Fanfoué festival.
A holiday in Méribel is always refreshing - like the Alpine waters of its fountains - and restores our reserves of
health, joy and well-being.
