Balade au fil de l'eau à Romans

This route takes you to the discovery of emblematic places, where water, whether channeled, used or simply admired, has marked the identity of Romans.

The highlight of this route is the Martinette Canal, a true water course in the heart of the city that transforms this walk into a pastoral break, where water becomes the main theme of a discovery between nature and heritage.

The start this loop of about 6.9 km is from the Belvédère Saint-Romain. Follow the arrows (blue sign representing waves and a mill wheel).

Go down the stairs to arrive behind the associations' house (or by the "côte des Chapeliers" if you cannot take the stairs), then return towards Isère. Cross "La Savasse" thanks to the "Pont des Orphelines", then at the roundabout cross to take in front the street "Fontessort".

at the intersection with the street "Pêcherie" take on the right, pass in front of "la Fontaine du puits-du-cheval".

Admire in front of you the "Collégiale St Barnard", turn left to reach the "Place Maurice Faure", then again on the left the street "du Mouton".

On your left the house of the same name "Maison du Mouton" which hosts the heritage center.

At the intersection with rue "de l'Armillerie", turn left, proceed and continue on rue du "Fuseau". Just before returning to the street "Pêcherie", turn right "Côte du Crotton" and go until the end of the latter. At the street "Pêcherie" turn right, then at the intersection with the "côte Poids des Farines", turn left on the street "de Clérieux", then again left to join the "Quai Sainte Claire".

Go up the platform on the right, pass in front of the Public Finance Center, then turn right along the building to join the street "Faubourg de Clérieux".

Here, take a right, go up the street for about a hundred meters and cross to the left to climb rue "de la Martinette".

Follow this one and continue on the path along the Martinette Canal.

At the end turn right then again right on "Duchesne Avenue", then just a few meters later take a left onto Rue Jeanne d'Arc.

At the intersection take left "Avenue Marcel Paul", then right "La Martinette Trail". Follow it up "la Savasse".

At the intersection with the street "Louis le Cardonnel" turn left, a few meters and after the house turn right and follow the path that ends "Chemin du Moulin".

Here, turn left, continue straight ahead, then follow the "Chemin de Chatiou" in front of you.

Go to the end of the path and at the intersection with the 'Route de St Bardoux', turn left then right on rue 'de Dunkerque'.

At the junction with "Simone Abbat" street cross the road, turn right between the road and the railway. Follow the path that passes under the railway track and crosses the Savasse.

Continue to join the "Rue des Récollets", turn left and go down the "Avenue Berthelot" until you find on your right "Le chemin des Bastions".

At the end of this path, which takes you past the Théâtre de la Presle, to reach the "Parc François Mitterrand" and your starting point.
