Set off from the typical hamlet of La Jairaz for a walk through unspoilt scenery to
the hamlet of Montcharvet. Return via meadows bathed in the afternoon sunshine.
From La Jairaz, follow the flat road to the former sawmill and cross the bridge. Go up the trail across until you reach a crossroad. Continue to go uphill in the valley (do not take the left path which crosses the torrent). About 20 minutes from the start, cross a small bridge and go left on a path which snakes alongside the clearing. The trail becomes flat again in the forest. At the crossing, go down to the meadows over Montcharvet. In the hamlet, criss-cross between the old ruins to reach a steep trail which goes down near La Rosière torrent. You will then arrive on a wide path. Turn left, cross the brigde and go back to the old sawmill.

This high-level walk takes you past sinkholes and offers amazing panoramic views. When you get to Le Biol, you’ll see a stone - the remains of the old mountain hut that was carried away by an avalanche in 1999.
