When night falls, if you dare, venture into the dark, narrow Rue Marivaux, proceed cautiously to door number 8, push it open and step onto an incredible musical ghost train. During your journey, amidst a blend of blood and champagne, you’ll traverse all manner of unsettling musical landscapes populated by demons, murderers, raving madmen and ghosts. Based on the production directed by Valérie Lesort for the Opéra-Comique. Set to music by Handel and Purcell.
THE ISLAND OF THE DEAD
Immerse yourself in the heart of Arnold Böcklin’s famous and spellbinding painting,
one of the most reproduced in the history of art. It has fascinated many
figures, from Sigmund Freud to Georges Clémenceau, and has also inspired artists such as Sergei Rachmaninov, Salvador Dalí and Martin Scorsese. It depicts the final journey as recounted in Greek mythology: Charon takes a deceased soul aboard his boat to carry them to the realm of the dead on the other side of the River Styx.
