Gilles Fumey looks back at the story of Heidi, a young shepherdess from the pastures.
Heidi's story accompanies that of the new vocation of the Alps, which are looking to the future in the valleys, where her grandfather's mountain pastures seem doomed. Her story also tells of the children of that era, and more particularly of the little girls who charmed the Comtesse de Ségur. Through Heidi, we can decipher the considerable upheavals that shook the Alps before the invention of winter and tourism. It also offers a new perspective on childhood, now viewed with greater admiration and affection.
