Oratory of the hamlet of Notre Dame des Maures

The Cassini map of 1788 mentions a chapel in this neighbourhood. It no longer appears on the 1828 land register. To make up for visitors' questions about the absence of a religious building in such an evocative place, the dean of the hamlet had this oratory built in 1995.

6 oratories out of the 8 listed in La Londe bear witness to a Marian devotion that is strong in Provence. The oldest, dated 1869, also honours ND des Maures. Difficult to access today, until the 1940s, it was the object, on 15 August and All Saints' Day, of a Rogation procession dedicated to the divine blessing of crops. Starting from the church of La Nativité, it passed by two oratories that have disappeared along the RD 88, before reaching that of ND des Maures.
