Le musée de la chaussure hors les murs.
Inspired by emblematic models exhibited at the Musée de la Chaussure, these works pay tribute to the creativity and technique of great shoemakers such as Roger Vivier, Stephane Kelian and Charles Jourdan...
Jean-Luc Tamisier and Sylvie Favel, commissioned by the City, are at the origin of this urban scenography and the design of the foundations.
Two-tone men’s boot, designed in 1923 by 'Joseph Fenestrier', a prominent figure of the local manufacturer.
This boot, whose short gaiter buttoned on the side reflects the masculine elegance of the 1920s, perfectly illustrates the style of an era when refinement was paramount. Thought to accompany the costume, it is a prestigious accessory from the "high luxury series" produced in Romans.
Dimension without base of the monumental version:
L.2,97m X H.1,11m X I.1,22
Its location in the Presle district has a particular symbolic significance: recently redeveloped around the river Savasse, this area also houses old tanners' houses, still visible witnesses of the artisanal and industrial past of the city. This rehabilitated framework, at the crossroads of natural and built heritage, offers an ideal setting for this work, extending the memory of a local know-how that continues to mark the identity of Romans.
