After following the River Isère through the Haute-Tarentaise, the road climbs through Val d'Isère to the pass. Kilometre posts and a timing system enable cyclists to time their ascent. Contact the tourist office for details.
On certain summer days, the road from Val d'Isère to the Col d’Iseran is closed to all traffic except cyclists, who get to enjoy the ascent and the scenery without having to think about cars.
