At 1750 m high this lake used to be a natural one. Now there is a huge dam which was first to be built in Beaufortain in 1942. There are about 13 km of galleries to drive the water from Tré la Tête glacier to the lake.
That is why the color of the water is milky. Fishing is possible in this place (with a fishing card).
