The St Guérin oratory was built in 1814 in memory of the valley's spiritual father. It is on the old road linking Saint Jean d'Aulps to Le Biot, which is now a popular walking route.

It was here, it is said, that Saint Guérin, spiritual father of the Valley and patron saint of the flocks, fell from his mule and died in 1158, on his way to Sion.

The oratory can be reached from the hamlet of Bas-Thex, near the Abbey, in the commune of Saint Jean d'Aulps.

The oratory is accessed via a small mound and a step. It is rectangular in shape, built of rubble with a chain of ashlar. It has a three-slope tile and corrugated iron roof. The niche is framed by a depressed arch, with two stars carved on either side of a cross. The niche is closed by a wrought-iron grille. It contains a plaster statue of Saint Guérin on his mule. Below the niche is an inscription reading "M 1814 S ici la maladie arrêta st Guérin allant à Sion D 1158", surrounded by two quatrefoils.
