Saffron is a spice that is infused in a warm liquid such as water, cream, milk, broth, salty or sweet juice... Saffron will enhance the taste of all your dishes. It flavors the salted or sweetened recipes.
The botanical name of the saffron crocus is Crocus Sativus. Purple flower with yellow stamens and pistil dividing into 3 bright red stigmas. Reverse flowering plant, the Crocus Sativus shows its stigmas in the fall. It takes 150 to 200 flowers to obtain 1 g of dry saffron. After drying, the stigmas lose 80% of their weight. The virtues of saffron : antidepressant, antispasmodic, anti pain, it is also considered as an aphrodisiac.
