Self-taught Savoyard artist, painter, graffiti artist, performer, she draws her inspiration from the world around her. An explosive representation of shapes and lively colors, depicting a style that is sometimes cubist, sometimes surreal or simply realistic, it reflects the feelings and emotions that surround it.
At the foot of the Evettes slope in Flumet, a bus shelter disappears to reveal a fresco by Ophélie Lagier, where concrete turns into mountains. The peaks rise in shades of icy blue and white, standing out strongly against a background in the colors of dawn or dusk. The artist, a native of the country, accurately captures the duality of the Alps, immutable in their grandeur, while suggesting their vulnerability in the face of changes that are both imperceptible and profound.
The dynamism of the warm hues, which set the edges of the work ablaze, gives it a breath of life, perhaps the subtle echo of the seasons that intertwine and change. Ophélie plays with our perceptions by blurring the line between abstraction and figuration, to the limit of anamorphosis. This transformed place questions us: it is both a memorial to vanished beauty and a vibrant cry for present action. It is a daily reminder, for both residents and visitors, that the beauty of the peaks is more than a decoration, but a living heritage to be cherished and protected.
