A mountain museum at an altitude of 2640 m! Having become too small, this refuge was transformed into a museum of local mountaineering and entrusted to the good care of the Vanoise National Park. It is an hour's walk from the current "Mont Pourri" refuge.

An exhibition of photos and equipment from the period is proposed: the history of mountaineering on the south face of Mont Pourri, the first evolutions on the Geay glacier, at the Col des Roches, on the shoulder of Mont Pourri, the Poccard path, the climbing routes in the rocky foothills...

The summit of Mont Pourri was first climbed by Michel Croz, a Chamonix guide, on 4 October 1861.

Since then, the valley has provided the mountaineering world with many of the most famous guides who have achieved feats in all the mountains of the world. The Regaud refuge remained for a century the base camp for climbers who attempted the south face of Mont-Pourri.

The refuge-museum is at the foot of the long southern moraine of the Geay glacier: an exceptional natural environment. The herd of ibexes is very often visible in this area.

Plan to spend half a day exploring this extraordinary site.

The old Regaud refuge is open at the same time as the refuge: mid-June to mid-September.

The museum area is not a shelter: picnicking is not allowed.
