Polar survival course in Courchevel

This course is designed for anyone wishing to be self-sufficient in winter conditions, and who wants to master the fundamentals required for safe mountain activities in snow.

This course is designed to raise awareness of the general dangers of winter (avalanches, cold, climatic hazards, loss of orientation, falls...). You will discover the risk management process by observing, dissociating, identifying and quantifying the different elements of your environment, in order to analyze and make an acceptable decision for your level.

General briefing and departure for a hike to define the basic principles of survival. During this trip we'll look at :

Climate-related hazards.

Alert management.

Basic orientation.

Knowing typical avalanche situations and being able to make a global analysis (3x3).

Principle of the DVA and its use in research.

First aid notions, including hypothermia.

Creation of a life base, emergency igloo.

Night-> Bivouac in an Igloo.

Tidying up the base camp and taking care not to abuse natural resources or leave traces of your passage.

Explanation and analysis of the different layers of snow.

Makeshift evacuation techniques.

Building a survival kit. Various tips and tricks...
