With your guide, become the witnesses to the daily life, the very rich culture and the cultural influences of these first mountain dwelers who had relationships with their environment that went well beyond simple subsistence.
5.600 years ago, the first farmer-breeders settled in the Balmes cave which dominates Val Cenis Sollières Sardières in Haute Maurienne Vanoise. Handicrafts immerse visitors in the daily life of these first mountain dwellers. During 3,000 years of occupation of the site, we realize that these men had relationships with their environment that went well beyond simple subsistence. Cultural influences from Switzerland, the Mediterranean coast and even northern Italy show that 5,000 years ago, people already frequented the mountains.
