Once upon a time, there was Courchevel Le Praz: a mountain village in Savoie, perched at an altitude of 1,300 m, which became a winter sports resort in 1946 and an Olympic venue in 1992. Let a local guide tell you all about its rich history.
Let yourself be guided for a morning to discover the history of Courchevel Le Praz: a small mountain village perched at an altitude of 1,300 m in the Tarentaise valley in Savoie, which developed into a winter sports resort from 1946 onwards, with the creation of the Courchevel ski resort. In 1992, the village became an Olympic venue for the ski jumping and Nordic combined events, then the venue for the 2023 World Alpine Skiing Championships and the future venue for the 2030 Winter Olympics for men's alpine skiing, ski jumping and Nordic combined. An easy walking tour, accessible to pushchairs, from the Alpinium, followed by a stroll through the village of Le Praz, a visit to the chapel of Ste-Madeleine and a commentary on the ski jumping stadium.
The tour is led by a guide from the Pays d'art et d'histoire des hautes vallées de Savoie with the FACIM Foundation.
