This mountain church, built in 1682, will amaze you with its wealth of decorative details. It features no fewer than 9 altarpieces and its vaulted choir is adorned with extensive ornamental plasterwork, making it one of the finest Baroque buildings in the department!
At the back of the choir is the main altarpiece, carved in 1673. With its ornate detailing and size, measuring 10 metres wide, it certainly impresses. To the right of the central panel, is a statue of Saint Thecla who, according to popular belief, came from Valloire. She can be recognized from the 3 fingers of Saint John the Baptist that she is holding in her hand. Today, this precious relic, that she brought back from Egypt, is kept in the Cathedral of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. These 3 fingers, which naturally appear on the town's coat of arms, have also become the emblem of the famous Opinel knives!
On some of the many side altarpieces, you'll see a number of 17th and 18th century paintings by various members of the Dufour family, a dynasty of artists from the Maurienne region.
