Tous les visiteurs doivent présenter leur pass sanitaire, excepté les moins de 18 ans. La vérification du pass sanitaire s’effectue à l’entrée du musée au 20 place des Terreaux. Seul le statut "valide / non valide" est visible, le vérificateur n’a accès à aucune donnée personnelle ou médicale. Un justificatif d’identité est demandé. L'accès au jardin-cloître est aussi soumis à la présentation du pass sanitaire. Pour remplacer les porte-bébés à dos, des sacs ventraux souples et poussettes légères sont gracieusement mis à la disposition des visiteurs. Accès aux personnes en fauteuil roulant par le 17 place des Terreaux, accompagnés. Parking des Terreaux accessible. Prêt possible d'un fauteuil roulant. Chiens-guides d'aveugles admis. Pratique de la langue des signes française. Emetteur infrarouge pour les personnes malentendantes appareillées.

In a former 17th-century abbey, the museum boasts one of the largest collections of European works of art (Véronèse, Rubens, Rembrandt, Poussin, Géricault, Delacroix, Gauguin, etc.) dating from ancient Egypt to the present-day.
With 70 rooms covering 7,000 m², the Museum of Fine Arts in the Palais Saint Pierre is the largest Fine Arts museum in France after the Louvre. It contains sculptures and paintings from the 14th to the 20th century, collections of Egyptian art, oriental art, art objects, coins, etc. Madame Delubac left her collections to the museum in 1997.
The museum is ranked first among France's regional museums and fifth among France's museums.
It was created in 1803 in a former twelfth century Benedictine convent by François Royer de la Valfenière. After restoration works by Philippe-Charles Dubois, Jean-Michel Wilmotte and Gabriel Mortamet that began in 1989, the current museum was inaugurated in March 1998.
Thomas Blanchet (1614-1689) created the baroque statues in the Refectory and on the main stairway.
There is a tea room - restaurant with a pleasant terrace looking out onto the garden.
