At the entrance to the Vanoise National Park, the hamlet of Les Prioux nestles at the heart of the Chavière valley, revealing the secrets of the village's houses, life in alpine pastures and how Beaufort cheese is made.
Starting from the hamlet of Les Prioux, at an altitude of 1700 metres, this walk takes you through the Chavière valley, where nature has retained its rights and people have adapted to them.
As if to make up for the long winter months when they were cut off from the world, the houses start to talk. They tell you about life in the past and present, as the seasons go by: alpine pastures, Beaufort cheese-making, the development of tourism, and mountain trades, thanks to interpretation furniture.
Maps are available to help you discover the trail (on sale at the Tourist Office).
PLEASE NOTE: People with reduced mobility can take the electric shuttle to Les Prioux.
This comfortable walk is part of the Promenade Savoyarde de Découverte (free trail), which allows the more curious to walk to the Chavière valley from the center of Pralognan-la-Vanoise village, for a 2-hour walk with a 300 m ascent and a distance of 4.3 km. Departure from the free "le Bouquetin" parking lot in Pralognan.
Electric shuttle service available during the summer season.
